A CITY LIVING ROOM

My daughter wanted to move back to our lovely suburban town but found that she was locked out price wise.  We wanted to sell our house and move back to a city apartment and found that we were locked out price wise.  I am tired of my beach cottage look.  I would go for the urban if I could.  AND I CAN!  AND I DID in my little HABA world.  Notice the exposed brick wall and rustic/urban wood flooring.  SO sophisticated and so cozy at the same time. I think I will be spending lots of winter hours here in this living room.  Who wants to come over and play dolls with me?

18 DAYS TO CHANUKAH

What gift do you value?  What gift would you like to receive?  Winter is coming.  The days are shorter.  I am blogging on wordpress so I have to assume, but you know the danger in that, that words and books are something you hold onto, cherish.   Me, I would love to receive a good book in a cellophane wrapped basket with maybe a Starbuck’s or tea theme.  I like coffee in the morning.  I like to stay in bed on cold, dreary mornings, under the blanket, sipping and reading.  Me, I like herbal tea.  I like to get into bed early and sip and read under the blankets.   In between, I am out and about and running around.  I try to exercise and I cook lots of soups.  But the early and late times are luxurious in retirement, in the winter.   So, with 18 days  left to Chanukah and and 29 left till Christmas, why run around like a chicken without a head shopping in the malls?  Why hassle with parking and lines and throngs and mobs?  Why not order a good book like RAGING AGAINST AGING  or any other on http://www.Amazon.com or Kindle and go to your local Starbuck’s or tea house and put together a thoughtful, cozy present for that special friend or relative?

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS?

Are book lovers really such a minority?  When my daughter was little, I would take her to the local book shop to purchase a book before we went to the supermarket to purchase foods and toiletries.  The holidays are coming up.  How little can you spend for those little gifts you have to buy?  Can you buy anything for less than $ 12.99?  What can you get for $ 12.99?  Hand creams and soaps?

WHY do we not think twice about hand cream and soaps but hesitate about giving the gift of laughter?  A book?  A CD that makes you giggle in the car?   Why would those not be the obvious choices?

I suggest going to http://www.amazon.com and searching for Danny Lobell’s THE NICEST BOY IN BARCELONA and for my RAGING AGAINST AGING.

Dare to be different.  Give a gift of creativity and thought. GIVE THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER!
