I AM OFFICIAL!

I just joined the National Society of Newspaper Columnists at the behest of a syndicated columnist who started reading my book.  I am officially a writer, in case you doubted it for one minute!

I know it is hard to believe that I was a selective mute in grade school but baby, look at me now!

10 Days to My Book Talk

Feel free to contact mjctemple@gmail.com or call 593-6364 or email or text me.   HOPE TO SEE YOU THEN.

10 Days to my Book Talk and 12 until CHANUKAH!

I don’t know if it is word of mouth or if it is the deadline of the holiday but…

I am selling more books on amazon and kindle.  And at this point, I do not know the buyers.  So, thank you all for your support because creative people NEED support.  And remember that I am giving back to Memorial Sloan Kettering because we are part of their family.  For now, I got two good reports yesterday.  Have you seen AVENUE Q?   If you have not, PLEASE do yourself a favor and youtube it! These are the lyrics:

{Why does everything have to be so hard?
Maybe you’ll never find your purpose
Lots of people don’t
But then I don’t even know why I’m alive
Well, who does, really?}

Everyone’s a little bit unsatisfied
Everyone goes ’round a little empty inside
Take a breath, look around
Swallow your pride for now
(For now)

Nothing lasts, life goes on
Full of surprises
You’ll be faced with problems
Of all shapes and sizes

You’re going to have to make
A few compromises for now
For now

But only for now
(For now)
Only for now
(For now)
Only for now
(For now)
Only for now

For now we’re healthy
For now we’re employed
For now we’re happy
If not overjoyed

And we’ll accept the things
We cannot avoid, for now, for now
For now, for now

But only for now
(For now)
Only for now
(For now)
Only for now
(For now)
Only for now

Only for now
(For now there’s life)
Only for now
(For now there’s love)
Only for now
(For now there’s work)
For now there’s happiness

But only for now
(For now discomfort)
But only for now
(But now there’s friendship)
Only for now
(For now)
Only for now

Only for now, sex
Is only for now, your hair
Is only for now, George Bush
Is only for now

Don’t stress, relax
Let life roll off your backs
Except for death and paying taxes
Everything in life is only for now

Each time you smile
(Only for now)
It’ll only last a while
(Only for now)
Life may be scary
(Only for now)
But it’s only temporary

Everything in life is only for now

IT ALL STARTED HERE ON WORDPRESS WITH ONE LITTLE BLOG!

THANK YOU TO MY BLOG MASTER FOR PUTTING ME ON WORDPRESS.   I blogged a little blog.  A few people read it.  I blogged again – another little blog. People visited and viewed it.  I found I had an outlet to my voice.  I blogged again and again.  All little blogs. Now I have a book.  It is available for circulation in my local library.  One of my clients ordered a book and donated it to her local library.

“My father would be so proud,” my mother would tell me.   He revered books. My mother revered crafts.  As you can see, I had no shot at being a big business person from the very beginning!  But, I have already been on one podcast, one radio talk show, am scheduled to do a book talk, am scheduled to be on a local public access t v interview show, and will be on a podcast radio show -that operates out of Durham, NC.  And my book just debuted Oct. 6th!   “Not too shabby,” my friend would say.

If YOU WANT TO BUY A COPY FOR YOUR LIBRARY, THAT WOULD BE A FABULOUS CHANUKAH GIFT TO ME AND TO OTHERS WHO ARE AGING.  AND 18% of the proceeds goes to Memorial Sloan Kettering – if not for our sakes, then for the sake of our children.

p.s.  I AM FIVE FULL CHAPTERS INTO MY NEXT BOOK!

I will be on PATV out of Great Neck on Dec. 12th at 8 PM. Details to follow.

I was invited by my blog master, to talk about my book RAGING AGAINST AGING on her show SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT.   THOSE OF YOU ON THE FENCE ABOUT BUYING MY BOOK, PLEASE TUNE IN.  YOU MAY DECIDE BUY MORE THAN ONE.  YOU MAY DECIDE THAT THEY ARE THE PERFECT HOLIDAY GIFT FOR YOUR FRIEND, SISTER, SISTER-IN-LAW, MOTHER, MOTHER-IN-LAW, OR GRANDMA.  Men have read my book and have approved.  Non-Jewish women have read my book and identified.    People who do not know me have read my book and have given me the thumbs up.  I am you and I write about what it is REALLY like to be sixty-plus.

Another five star review. Thank you!

It was filled with humorous experiences and also sad ones. I enjoyed reading it, learning that as my grandmother said, “Getting old is hard work!”

Nothing comes easy, and especially not aging. Thank you to this reader/reviewer who got my book!

Click on look inside on http://www.amazon.com RAGING AGAINST AGING.  For the 60 + crowd.  Think:  HOLIDAY GIFT!

MY CARDIOLOGIST is reading my book and she called me to tell me she LOVES the way I write about my relationships!

My doctor is into the arts.  Of course she is.  She was raised in Europe and she thrives on culture – the kind of culture we, here, do not often appreciate.  Because we are a society that appreciates what exactly?  Thrills?  Distractions?  Never mind, if you want a doctor who cares about your heart – not just the physical heart – but the emotional one, too, CALL me and I will share my contact information!!!!

ANOTHER FABULOUS REVIEW!!!

on October 25, 2017
Format: Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book is nuch too short, which is the only thing I have againt it. Short, pithy chapters, full of wisdom and wit and always with a little twist that moves you deeply and makes you reflect back about your own experiene. Take for example the hilariously funny and so poignant chapter about Becker’s mother. At the age of 87, sufferring from Parkinson’s disease and living in an assisted-living facility, she meets a younger, 84-year-old wrack of a man and they happily get married. Ms Becker dubs him G.I. Joe, because he had served in the Korean War. He makes serious plans to take his bride out of the facility after the wedding and move in with his daughter-in-law. Sadly, that was not to be, becuase G.I. Joe died of a broken heart – “he wanted his manhood and independence back so badly” (p. 35). Or take the “Shoes Again” chapter, which develops from what seems to be a frivolous, girlish preoccupation with footwear into a major lesson in human relationship, in fact leading to the most significant relationship of Ms Becker’s life, with her future second husband. “I am a woman, and therefore, I am defined by my footwear. How do I know? Because once, when I started a new job, a whole year and three months passed before a colleague spoke to me, and the first words she ever said to me were, ‘Oh, what cute shoes!'” Everything they say about the book in rhe reviews is spot on. But it’s much more than enjoyable, it is also a hugely satisfying book. Read it with close attention and you will get a lot of good tips for your own life changes. We do hope to hear more o Jacqueline Becker in the future.

THE INTERNET IS AMAZING AND EVERYONE, IN MY OPINION, SHOULD OWN FACEBOOK STOCK! Get ready to join me for a book talk. Time and place TBA!

Here is how it works:  I posted here on wordpress and on Facebook and LinkedIn about my podcast.  (The rabbi who interviewed me, found me from my Facebook postings).    Another rabbi heard the podcast and found my email address from the organization’s flyer.  She emailed me and asked me to present some time in December. I will post details so that all my former colleagues can come since it will be near the district.  The internet is amazing.   I am really not tech savvy.   I am, however, an incredible networker and the network is called a network for a reason!!!!!
